Horde is an one-man-project of Jason Sherlocke from Australia. "Hellig usvart" ("Holy unblack" in norwegian) was released somewhere in the middle of the nineties and was Horde's only album. Man made his statement and that was it. I think that this is THE MOST controversial conceptual album ever made in black metal. It's christian black metal fueled with pure hatred against satanism. It's like excorcism, like performing blasphemy on blasphemy. "Invert the inverted cross" - now is that a cool song title, or what? The goal was to piss off the scandinavian blackmetallers and he succeeded quite nicely, he even got some death threats. Behind the project was the drummer of Australian christian death metal group Mortification. If there were normal BM lyrics, this would be one of the most respected raw BM albums, right next to Darkthrone's "Under the funeral moon". It's amazing how skillfully this guy has imitated the production and style. And it's far beyond just imitating, it's outstanding how an outsider to the scene has reached such high level only available to the very top visionaires of the genre. Even the ascetic black and white album sleeve is as the tradition demands. But due to lyrics most of the black metal fans avoid it intentionally and this record is almost like forgotten nowadays. Horde has given inspiration to some other christian metal bands, but these are just average mostly symphonic BM groups not worth mentioning
